Community Events for Summer 2018

Summer is well and truly here and fingers crossed it’s going to be a good one!

Community organisations all over the city are planning events to celebrate their neighbourhoods with the local people who live there. Check out some of the events going on…

Hollingdean

  • Saturday 16th June 10.30-3.30pm, Hollingdean Lucky Dip: The Great Get Together. More details on Facebook

Moulsecoomb and Bevendean

  • Saturday 16th June – Youth Sports Festival in Moulsecoomb. Dozens of activities for young people to get involved with at Moulsecoomb Leisure Centre and the 67 Centre. Details here
  • Saturday 23rd June, 12-4pm, St Georges Hall Moulsecoomb community Day. Details here
  • Saturday 23rd June, 10-12, Summer Fayre and Fun Day at St Andrews, Moulsecoomb. Event details here.  
  • Saturday 7th July, 1.30 – 9pm – Bevfest, Bevendean’s very own live music festival for the whole family. Heath Hill Avenue, Bevendean. 
  • Saturday 14th July, 11-4pm, Moulsecoomb Primary School Summer fair, Details
  • Saturday 4th August, 11-4pm, Wild Park family fun day. More details here

Tarner

  • Saturday 21st July, 12-5. Tarner World Festival in Tarner Park. More details here

West Hove

  • Saturday 23rd June, 11-4, Stoneham Park Midsummer Fayre. Details.
  • Saturday 14th July 12-6 Wish Park, WishFest. Details

And the Craven Vale community won’t be doing their usual big summer event this year but instead will be doing an entire week of smaller activities at the end of July. All activities will be held at The Vale Community Centre, 17A Hadlow Close, BN2 0FH (or just outside) and there will be cheap refreshments available at all activities throughout the week.

The activities planned are:

  • Monday 23rd July AM Free Yoga Taster session 11 – 12pm, PM Free Gentle Exercise Taster session 12.15 – 1pm PM Craft activities for young people
  • Tuesday 24th July AM Free Darts knock out competition 10 – 12pm,  PM Free Quiz 2pm
  • Wednesday 25th July AM Café morning 10.30 – 12.30, PM Free Jigsaws and board games afternoon, for all ages
  • Thursday 26th July AM Free Older People Outing  (advance booking essential – please contact [email protected] or 07723 338463) 
  • Friday 27th  July Free cookery demonstration – cooking on a budget 2pm
  • Saturday 28th  July BBQ/Planting/Clean up 1pm

Hope lots of you can join us at some of these community events – the perfect chance to get to know your neighbours. Keep an eye out for team TDC and make sure you come and say hi.
