Mark joined the Board in November 2007 and currently sits on the Personnel & Employment Sub- Committee (PESC). He knew of the Trust’s activities from his years of working in the community and voluntary/public sector and was so impressed he felt that it was natural for him to want to bring his experience to the table. Much of Mark's work over the last 20 years has been in the city of Brighton & Hove; previously at the Brighton Resource Centre in Brighton, assisting Residents’ Associations and community groups in terms of production of literature, fundraising, training and advice and most recently for Affinity Sutton Housing for over 12 years as a Resident Involvement Officer. Mark is now an independent case worker for trade unions having spent over thirty three years in the movement. His experience as a trade unionist means he has a range of knowledge around employment law and staff terms and conditions that inevitably are brought to bear on the PESC. Mark sees the work the Trust does as central to the lives of the communities in which the services are delivered. Mark says, "Like Cllr Dee Simson said at the AGM in 2009 ‘the Trust scratches the parts the council cannot reach’. Long may it continue!”
