Mark joined the Board in November 2007 and currently sits on the Personnel and Employment Sub Committee (PESC). He knew of the Trust’s activities from over 15 years working in the community and voluntary/public sector and was impressed; so it he felt that it was natural for him to want to bring his experience to the table. Much of Mark's work at the Resource Centre in Brighton was spent supporting local voluntary groups, especially Residents’ Associations and for the last ten years his work with such groups has been delivered through his work with a local Housing Association. Mark also has thirty years experience as a trade unionist which means he has a range of negotiating skills that inevitably are brought to bear on the PESC. Mark sees the work as central to the lives of the communities in which the services are delivered. Mark says, "Like Cllr Dee Simson said at the AGM in 2009 ‘the Trust scratchs the parts the council cannot reach’. Long may it continue!”
