Grant Scott

Grant has 25 years' experience in the IT industry having worked for large corporations around the country.  He is involved in the community and voluntary sector and is Chairperson of Craven Vale Community Association which is a Residents' Association, Tenants' Association and Local Action Team.  Having been involved with the Community Association, TDC's Community Development Worker prompted Grant to go on the WICO (Working in Community Organisations) course which is run by the Trust.  This has made a great difference to his work and has helped Grant understand how community and voluntary se

John Homewood

John moved to Woodingdean in 1953 and joined the Woodingdean Community Association in 1967 by helping set up a Youth Club.  He is the WCA President and Vice-Chair.  In 1977 John got involved in Woodingdean Swimming Pool, later becoming the Treasurer until its recent closure.  He has been helping to organise Woodingdean Carnival every year since 1980.  In recent years John has joined the Woodingdean Tenants' & Residents' Association as a member, which led him to the Newsletter Group and Woodingdean website.


Liz Cunningham

Liz joined the Board in November 2010 and currently sits on the Finance Sub- Committee.  Liz is a Psychology Lecturer at the University of Brighton.  When she joined the university more than 10 years ago as a researcher she worked for more than a year with Barry Hulyer and Dave Nichols on the SRB5 Participation Programme.  Prior to working in higher education, Liz worked in the voluntary sector for international and national NGOs for more than 10 years, as a community/social development worker and later as a

Paul Bramwell

Role: 
Chair of Personnel & Employment Sub-Committee

Paul has worked in the voluntary and community sector for 20 years. He has developed a telephone helpline service; worked in the field of development education doing development, human rights and equalities training work; and worked for a community arts organisation, putting on largescale fundraising events. For the fourteen years Paul worked for the Working Together Project, which provided training and learning to the third sector in Sussex.


Revd. Stephen Terry

Role: 
Treasurer and Chair of Finance Sub-Committee and Member of Personnel & Employment Sub-Committee

Stephen joined the Board of Trustees in 2008 after becoming interested in the work of the Trust through his regular attendance at the Portland Road and Clarendon Forum meetings.  He has been an Anglican priest for 38 years and the Rector of Aldrington, West Hove for the past 24 years.  He feels that the way the Trust carries out its work fits well with his ministry philosophy that the church should go to the community and on the communities terms.


Ronald Gurney

Role: 
Member of Personnel & Employment Sub-Committee

Ron joined the Trustee Board in November 2009.  He has served on committees for over 50 years usually in the office of Treasurer, Secretary or Chair.  In the 1970s Ron arranged the building of Bury Village Hall, obtaining approximately £90,000 in funding.  Today it is now a registered charity worth around £0.75 million.  For the last nine years he has been active as Secretary then Chair of Ingram Crescent Residents' Association until recently.  He is a committee member of the Residents' Association and edits the Estate Newspaper.  He serves on the Asset Group and the Estate Monito


Eileen O'Leary

Eileen joined the Board of Trustees in 2003 having known the Chief Executive for many years, as she was an active volunteer in the Hangleton community.  She comes from a background of community activism and was instrumental in the creation of the LETS scheme in Brighton and the starting up of a leaseholders association.  Eileen was running a day centre for homeless people for 10 years and is currently studying for a Masters degree in Community Psychology.


Mark Drayton

Role: 
Member of Personnel & Employment Sub-Committee
Mark joined the Board in November 2007 and currently sits on the Personnel & Employment Sub- Committee (PESC). He knew of the Trust’s activities from his years of working in the community and voluntary/public sector and was so impressed he felt that it was natural for him to want to bring his experience to the table.

Fabia Bates

Fabia first joined the Board of the Trust in 2004.  She was the Chair of Trustees between 2005 and 2010. She has worked within the voluntary sector for over 15 years specialising in corporate investment and volunteering.  she is currently a slef-employed trainer and consultant.  She ia also a member of the Trust's Finance Sub-Committee.

Robert Brown MBE

Role: 
Chair of Board of Trustees

Robert has been a Trustee of TDC since 2007.  He was Chair of the Brighton & Hove Local Involvement Network (The Link) which was the watchdog of the NHS and Social Care in Brighton & Hove from 2007 until March 2013. He previously worked for 21 years as an Orthotist in the NHS until he became disabled whilst doing a clinic at Dorking Hospital. He became an activist when being a carer for his mother who suffered from dementia. He had to fight to get what were her statutory rights and services. This work led him into all realms of the NHS and Social Housing.
