Developing strong representative groups; Tenants & Residents and the Local Action Team
- Strengthen resident involvement, especially tenant involvement
- Supporting communication and publicity
- Facilitate hosting of a community conference to review the neighbourhood action plan and encourage networking across community organisations
- Help develop independent newsletter group and produce quarterly issues
Supporting Community Facilities in Woodingdean
- Work with the Community Association to review their aims, structures and processes with a focus on managing the community centre and increasing community usage
- Work with The Deans Youth Project around the management and community usage of the Centre
- Facilitate a joint community buildings group to maximise community usage of facilities and identify needs for futre development
- Strengthen Java Community Cafe Board and help with business planning and fundraising
Delivering on the neighbourhood action plan
- Facilitate steering group and help fundraise to install a new skate park on Bexhill Road Park site
- Support consultations on developing play facilities in Bexhill Road Park and Happy Valley
- Support intergenerational projects, e.g. young people working with swimming pool committee on the mural
- Neighbourhood Survey to refresh local priority actions
Woodingdean has a neighbourhood based Community Development Worker (CDW) for the first time and they are sited in the office of the Woodingdean Youth Centre. This worker will be carrying out a comprehensive door knock survey across the neighbourhood starting in the remoter areas to add to the information gathered in 2008 for the Neighbourhood Action Plan (NAP), which the Trust supported the local community to produce.
- Regular advertised meetings of Tenants & Residents and Local Action Team
- Community Association renewing its charity status and clarifying its purpose, now has future planning group and buildings management group
- 3 editions of newsletter with community contributors going to 10,000 households
- 13 new people involved in representative groups
- Successful fundraising by Java and Bexhill Skate Park Project
- Successful Community Conference took place in October 2010
