Although Liz's professional qualifications are in Hotel Management she has always been interested and involved in her local community: Liz has been a member of her local regeneration partnership since it began over seven years ago and was Chair of the partnership for four.  She started as Community Development Worker in Hollingdean at the end of June 2008 and has focussed on letting as many groups/organisations/residents as possible know that she is there, based in the Community Centre, and would like to hear from them.

Our Current Activities: 
  • Setting up a varied programme of art and health based activities at the Hollingdean Community Centre in collaboration with Active for Live
  • Supporting various community groups such as Cookery Club, Parents Voice and Movers and Shakers
  • Supporting the Hollingdean Development Trust and the Local Action Team 
  • Supporting local residents in the set up and development of different activities and projects such as a new Hollingdean skate park, Chinese parent and toddler group, tree planting project
Achievements: 
  • Supported, in collaboration with Active for Life, the 'T' in the Park event for June 2010
  • Supported a very successful Community Clean Up Day with over 150 residents taking part
  • Supported local groups in preparing bids to the Healthy Neighbourhood Fund
  • Supported residents to have trees planted in their street
  • Supported residents in the setting up of a Tenants Association Group
  • Supported residents in the building of a natural play area
  • On behalf of Hollingdean Development Trust successfully applying to Community Spaces for £49,999 for a new skate park
  • Supporting young people to successfully apply to the Youth Capital Fund for £14,800 towards a new skate park

Kirsty joined the Trust for Developing Communities as a Projects Manager in July 2009. She has a background in community development and engagement work in the neighbourhoods of Brighton & Hove. The majority of this has been for the Hangleton & Knoll Project, eb4U and the Brighton and Hove City Council. Kirsty has always held the work of the Trust in high regard and was really excited about joining the team. Kirsty is happy to be contacted directly about any of her previous work in Brighton & Hove or about her role at the Trust.
