Our Current Activities:
Supporting Moulsecoomb Local Action Team towards sustainability
- Providing training for the resident committee and other residents who attend the LAT
- Strengthening resident attendance and input into the meetings
- Supporting communication and publicity about the work of the LAT
- Developing networks with other resident-led organisations such as LATs and Resident Associations
- Supporting the implementation and refreshing of the Moulsecoomb LAT action plan
Supporting community buildings in Moulsecoomb
- Working with St George’s to increase the community usage of the buildings
- Supporting the management committee of St George’s Hall
- Identifying and securing funding for additional activities
- Linking the building management committees into citywide networks
Working with seldom heard groups
- Supporting the Moulsecoomb Bangladeshi Women’s Group towards sustainability
- Promoting multi-cultural activities such as exercise and swimming in partnership with the Healthy Living Centre
- Developing citywide links with relevant organisations
- Developing links with Moulsecoomb LAT
Achievements:
- Held Moulsecoomb Family Fun Day with funding secured from Grassroots Grants
- Set up monthly lunch meetings with the Moulsecoomb Bangladeshi Women’s Group and secured funding from Novas Scarman Can do Health fund
- Secured tools for gardening at St George’s Hall with funding from O2
- Supported a weekly lunch club to gain a grant from Brighton and Hove City Council for transport for people with disabilities
- Helped Friends of Wild Park set up
- Supported the second edition of Moulsecoomb LAT’s newsletter and found funding for the edition from Communities Against Drugs
- Set up training for a group of residents interested in developing a community website in Moulsecoomb
- Built links with the community payback team to work in the area
- Set up a multi cultural exercise and swimming group for women
